It’s all about choice. Your choice! TOTAL CHOICE! Lindenmere’s program is on the cutting edge of summer camping. Campers work with their counselors and specialty staff to select the activities they want and love. With Lindenmere’s focus on choice, campers have an opportunity to explore in-depth the activities they feel they will enjoy and participate alongside campers with similar interests. This makes each and every day challenging, unique and fun.

Lindenmere campers choose all of the activities that they want to participate in.  They choose both majors and minors to construct their perfect day. With over fifty activities to choose from and a team of dedicated specialty staff, we ensure the success and growth of all of our campers.

In a traditional camping setting, campers often participate in activities with just the kids in their bunk. By choosing activities based on interests, campers quickly meet so many other campers that they have something in common with.  This helps develop higher numbers of friendships and creates an atmosphere of everyone knowing everyone.

Staff are equally as happy with the choice program.  They know that each camper that is in their activity area chose to be there.  Therefore they are able to achieve goals much quicker with motivated campers looking on!

MAJORS

Each child chooses three majors before the beginning of each session and goes to them on a daily basis. Majors are instructional and goal oriented. We have found that some campers will get to camp and try a new activity as a minor and fall in love with it. If this happens, they are more than welcome to change a major with the Program Director at lunch.

MINORS

Campers choose 3 minors daily at breakfast. A minor sheet is passed around by their counselors for campers to fill out.  Campers are going to take these minors that afternoon.  This gives them the utmost control in creating what they want to do.  Minors are either instructional or recreational, and they give campers a chance to venture into new activity areas.  Department heads develop minors to be focused on specific areas of that activity in order to enhance and nurture specific skills.

Camp Lindenmere is a celebration of choice, exploration and individuality. Each summer we come together to grow as individuals and as a camp family!… Then. Now. Always!!!

Mission & Philosophy

Camp Lindenmere is a warm, welcoming community that gathers together year after year to experience the joy of summer camping.

Meet Our Directors

Mitch Garfinkel

Mitch fulfilled his lifelong dream of owning and directing a children’s summer camp when he purchased Lindenmere in 2006. Born and raised in Jericho, NY, Mitch graduated SUNY Albany before becoming an attorney. While practicing law and owning several restaurants has been a great experience, summer camp is Mitch’s true passion. His camping experience has taken him through the ranks of camper, CIT, Counselor, Color War General, Group Leader and now Camp Director. His hands-on leadership and daily blogs to parents during the summer help each parent fully understand what is going on at camp and what their children are experiencing. When not at camp, Mitch can be found teaching and coaching throughout the Recreation League programs in South Florida. Mitch currently lives in Delray Beach, Florida with his three children, Hayley, Lynsey and Kyle.

Craig & Monica Odiorne

Craig, also known as Odie, has spent most of his summers at camps in Maine and Pennsylvania as a camper, counselor, ropes course director, and head counselor. Craig came to Lindenmere and has transitioned from head counselor, assistant director, director and now owner/director. Monica started off as a tennis pro working at many camps in New York before coming to Lindenmere where she was a department head, division leader, assistant director and now owner/director. In the winter, Craig and Monica oversee all aspects of camp including camper recruitment, purchasing, programming, recruiting staff and working with our families to ensure their children have a great summer. Craig and Monica are the perfect role models for our campers; their supportive and friendly personality along with their enthusiasm and passion for camp helps create a nurturing environment. Craig and Monica met at camp, got engaged on the 2nd night of color war on stage in the theatre in front of the whole camp, and now share their summer home with their son Austin. With parents like his, we know he will be an all-star camper!

Our Staff

We have put together a staff consisting of college students, college graduates, teachers and educators who all believe in Lindenmere. Our staff believes in providing campers with an incredible experience and is excited to be role models for your children during the summer. We are proud to have so many unbelievable people, including many returning staff, working with us this summer.
