Juris is a magna cum laude graduate from the Royal Conservatory of Brussels from which he holds Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in Music.
Juris began studying music with Arimans Strauss in Latvia and graduated with excellence from Music High School in Ventspils. In 2012, he was awarded 2nd prize at the K. Davidov international cello competition. Juris also performed at the Royal Albert Hall in 2017 at the winners' concert of the Grand Prize Virtuoso competition.
He has performed in over a dozen international festivals and masterclasses in Belgium, Netherlands, Latvia, Bulgaria, France, and Switzerland. Numerous times at festivals ‘Jong Talent’, ‘Rencontres musicales Internationales d’Enghien’, Tibor Varga Academy in Sion, and Autumn Academy of La Loingtaine. Notable masters include Natalia Gutman, Stefan Popov, Gary Hoffman, and Francois Guye.
As a soloist, Juris has performed cello concertos by J.Haydn, A.Jurjans, and C. Saint-Saens. He has appeared as guest artist in Ventspils Chamber Music Days and given recitals with Katsura Mizumoto and Andrew Wright.
As a teacher, Juris has helped students develop a solid left/right hand technical base and prepare them for live performances. He is an expert in various schools of cello playing (German, French, Russian).
Juris also holds law degrees from the University of Edinburgh, UK and The George Washington University Law School (LLM in Intellectual Property). Outside of music, Juris serves as a trusted advisor to boutique and national law firm management.

Refund for Lesson Packages
You may cancel a lesson package with at least 24 hours' written notice before the next lesson. Completed lessons will be billed at the standard hourly rate, and the remaining balance will be refunded minus a 5% processing fee. The fee is waived if you keep the balance as credit on your TimeAfterSchool account for other lessons.
