Highlight/Camp Overview
Island Lake Camp's program is all about choice. With a focus on choice, campers have the opportunity to explore the activities they enjoy or think they will enjoy while also meeting other campers with similar interests. ILC offers over fifty activities to choose from and with a team of dedicated specialty staff, ILC works to ensure campers have fun while experiencing success and growth!
Campers have six 1-hour activity periods each day. Three periods are Majors and three periods are Minors.
• Majors are activities that campers are interested in exploring in-depth and they participate in daily throughout the session.
• Minors are activities that can be changed daily and campers chose them each morning at breakfast. Minors give campers an opportunity to experience the large variety of activities ILC offers.
Room and Board
Our campers are housed in comfortable cabins which include a bathroom containing two showers, two stalls, and three sinks. Each cabin has a covered porch and glass windows with screens. The beds are separated by half-walls, affording each camper extra privacy. There are cubbies and hanging space in every bunk with a dresser and an outlet next to each bed, making all of our campers' living accommodations as comfortable as possible. There are approximately 12 campers living in each bunk with 3 counselors, ensuring proper supervision of every child.
Food
Meals are enjoyed in our modern, cafeteria-style dining room. Breakfasts include a choice of cold cereals as well as a hot entrée ranging from bagels to pancakes to French toast. For lunch and dinner, there is a choice of several main courses, overabundant salad bars, fresh fruits, juices and milk. Of course, there is also a vegetarian course option with each meal. Meals would not be complete without homemade desserts prepared daily by our own baker. We are able to accommodate all special dietary needs and our dining room is nut and peanut free.
Health
Island Lake Camp boasts a huge, new, air-conditioned health center furnished with modern equipment. Our doctor and nurses are prepared to handle any medical needs that may arise.
