Trumpet Practice Coaching
Trumpeter, composer, and conductor Warren W has performed throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, and beyond. He is a founding member of The Majestic Brass Quintet and held the position of principal trumpet with the New Philharmonic of Portugal from 1987-90. Mr. Wernick has been spotted and heard in the trumpet sections, often in the role of principal trumpet with many of the leading community orchestras in New York City. The list of community and professional ensembles he has performed with is massive. To date, Wernick has played at least one concert with: The Marion Symphony, The Lafayette Symphony, The Chelsea Symphony, The Greenwich Village Orchestra, The Summit Symphony, The New Amsterdam Symphony, The Riverside Orchestra, Broadway-Bach Ensemble, The Goldman Band, The Gramercy Brass, The Doctors Orchestra, The Brooklyn Symphony, The Westchester Opera, The New York Chamber Orchestra and The Mannes Community Orchestra. He was a member of the (fictional) New York Symphony in the Emmy award-winning Amazon show Mozart in the Jungle. He has been heard in solo performances of the works of Tartini, Telemann, Schubert, and Mozart.
Warren, who hails from New York, studied trumpet performance with the former principal trumpet of the New York Philharmonic, the late William Vachianno, and with Mark Gould, the former co-principal trumpet of the Metropolitan Opera at the Juilliard School where he was awarded a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Trumpet Performance. He spent his summers performing at various prestigious music festivals: The Empire Brass Quintet Symposium, The Tanglewood Music Center, The Waterloo Music Festival, The Aspen Music Festival, The Yale Norfolk Summer Chamber Music Festival, and the BANFF Summer Music Festival. During that era, he studied with some of the most expert teachers and coaches in the field, including Roger Voisin, Armando Ghitalla, Lous Ranger, Philip Smith, Charles Schlueter, Robert Nagel, Rolf Smedvig, and many others.
Warren is also a noted composer. Many of his works have been performed worldwide to critical acclaim.
His Trio for Oboe, Horn and Piano was commissioned by Lisa Kozenko and the Hancock Chamber players. It was subsequently published by International Opus, which prompted a recording by The Wild Basin Winds of Austin, Texas. Recently his Five Movements for Brass Septet and his Brass Quartet No. 2 “Uh-oh” were premiered at the Festival for Contemporary Music at Ball State University, where he is an Instructor of Music Theory and Composition. As a conductor, he is incredibly proud of his work with The WW Ensemble, a woodwind ensemble dedicated to presenting new and rarely played music for that combination of instruments.
