Course Description:
This course is designed to provide instruction in the SAT grammar and reading. Students will review and learn the conventions of standard written English including punctuation, sentence structure, grammar and usage, style, and organization. They will learn how to identify and answer question types on each test.
We will show students how to recognize the grammatical errors they must know as well as the strategies to think about reading on a critical level. We will use released exams and mock exams to show students how to approach the timing, the order of answering questions and any other strategies.
Students will learn a list of errors used in grammar, transition words and when to use them. Regarding reading sections, you will learn inferencing, supporting evidence, and the techniques of active reading.

SAT Grammar

This course is designed to equip students with the essential grammar skills necessary for success on the SAT. Through a structured curriculum, students will explore key grammatical concepts, enhance their understanding of sentence structure and punctuation rules, and practice applying these skills in the context of SAT-style questions. By the end of the course, students will be proficient in identifying and correcting common grammatical errors found on the SAT, ultimately boosting their confidence and performance on the exam.
Course Objectives:
1. Develop a solid understanding of fundamental grammar concepts.
2. Master the rules of punctuation, including comma usage, semicolons, colons, and dashes.
3. Identify and correct errors in subject-verb agreement, pronoun usage, and modifier placement.
4. Enhance sentence clarity and coherence through effective sentence structure.
5. Practice applying grammar skills in the context of SAT-style questions.

Throughout the course students will learn about necessary strategies and skills to be successful on the exam. Students will learn best practices to do their personal best on the test. Students will practice going through questions from many past exams building up from doing a few questions at a time to an entire exam. Students will build up their endurance in order to get through the whole exam without losing any focus or concentration. The goal is to have students be exposed to and if needed taught each concept on the exam and then practice those skills on practice exams.
ACT Math (强化班 )

SAT Reading/Writing Prep:
Craig Z has been teaching for 25 years in a wide variety of settings. Primarily an English teacher, he also has extensive experience teaching middle school and high school writing and SAC/ACT grammar and reading sections.He was also invited to teach with Princeton Review. With such a background, his lessons are focused yet wide-ranging, thus leading to a fuller, more contextualized student learning experience. Craig brings an infectious enthusiasm to teaching that kindles a reciprocal passion for learning in his students. Whether the forum be face-to-face or online, he delivers rigorous yet highly-engaging lessons that expand educational possibilities. Lessons might utilize websites, novel excerpts, videos, powerpoint, music, or other media in order to present the content in a diversified manner for the variety of learning styles in his students. SAT Reading/Writing Prep (基础班) : Alison is an experienced English Language Arts educator with over 15 years of teaching across high school, college, and adult education. She holds a B.A. in English: Teacher Licensure from Elon University and an M.A. in Composition and Rhetoric from Miami University. Her passion for writing instruction began as a Writing Consultant, supporting students one-on-one through all stages of the writing process. Alison taught high school English for six years, including AP English Language and Composition, where nearly all her students scored a 4 or 5 on the AP exam. She has also taught French, college-level writing, and provided SAT/ACT tutoring and college essay support. Her students consistently see score improvements and gain confidence in their writing. With 10 years of experience teaching English to adult immigrants and refugees, Alison brings empathy, energy, and adaptability to her classroom. She enjoys reading, hiking, cooking, and spending time with family in her free time.
SAT Vocabulary: Tracy holds a Master’s degree in Elementary Education and brings over two decades of teaching experience to her classroom. She spent 15 years teaching Grades 2 through 5 in Muncie Community Schools and an additional 7 years in the Wake County Public School System. Throughout her career, she has served as a Reading Interventionist, Team Leader, and Data Coach, earning the admiration of students and colleagues alike.
Tracy is especially passionate about guiding children as they transition from “learning to read” to “reading to learn,” fostering curiosity and independent thinking. One of her greatest strengths is helping students develop a love for vocabulary building through engaging and memorable strategies.
In her free time, Tracy enjoys playing with her dog, Tuffy, crafting mosaic stepping stones, and visiting her three adult children in Indiana, Ohio, and Mexico.
ACT Reading and Grammar: Amy holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education and brings over a decade of teaching experience to her work. She has taught a variety of subjects, including reading, writing, science, and history at the middle school level, and has worked extensively with a diverse range of students. Beyond classroom teaching, Ms. Amy has been invited to design specialized curricula focused on enhancing students’ reading comprehension, language skills, essay organization, writing proficiency, vocabulary, and analytical reasoning.
She is an expert in standardized tests such as ISEE, HSPT, SSAT, SHSAT,HSAT, ACT, and SAT, and her students have consistently achieved outstanding results under her guidance. Ms. Amy’s exceptional teaching skills have made her highly sought after by numerous educational institutions.
Ms. Amy is deeply committed to the belief that perseverance and hard work can lead students to remarkable achievements. SAT Math (强化班, 备考班)
Professor Wu is passionate about teaching and has over 18 years of experience teaching middle school (pre-algebra, AMC8) and high school level (algebra, geometry, precalculus and calculus, SAT, high school math contests) and college level mathematics courses, including 5+ years of teaching online classes. She taught high school math in China before moving to US for graduate study. After receiving her Ph.D. in Mathematics, Professor Wu has been teaching various undergraduate level math courses, including Precalculus, Calculus Sequences, Statistics, Linear Algebra, Mathematical Probability, etc. Her courses receive consistently high ratings from students. She is a star teacher. Professor Wu enjoys helping students to tackle challenging problems. As a math lover herself, she always encourages students to explore solutions in multiple perspectives.
Teacher Park is a math instructor with a strong foundation in both economics and mathematics. With a Master of Arts in Economics from the University at Albany, SUNY, and a Bachelor degree from Tohoku University, He has extensive experience teaching K-12 students. Specializing in subjects like Algebra, Geometry, Calculus, and Statistics, He also prepares students for standardized tests such as the SAT, ACT, and AP exams. Beyond teaching, He coaches students in math competitions like AMC and Math Kangaroo and has led chess clubs, winning several chess tournaments. Sangmin is dedicated to fostering a love of learning and helping students excel in their academic pursuits.
Teacher Guo has over 10 years of experience in teaching high school level and middle school level mathematics courses (AMC series, Olympiad math). He is currently teaching high school in Chicago. After graduating from UC-Berkeley with a degree in Theoretical Mathematics, Mr. Guo has been teaching various high school math courses including Algebra, Geometry, Precalculus, Calculus, AMC series, AIME and SAT. He also leads his high school math team competing in the NSML (North Suburban Math League) and ICTM Regional and State Math Contests. Mr. Guo also competed in AMC-12, the AIME, ARML himself, and as a 4-year math team starter at New Trier for a top-5 math team. Students enjoy Mr. Guo’s sense of humor, laid-back style, and relational teaching style.
ACT Math (强化班 备考班)
Mr. Shuhua has a B.S. in Geographic Information Science with a minor in Computer & Information Science from The Ohio State University. He scored a 5 in AP Computer Science, Chemistry, Calculus BC, and both Physics C exams, as well as top scores in both the ACT and SATs. He has been teaching math and computer science for over 5 years now, with students regularly achieving above average scores in Math Olympiad and AP exams. Students enjoy his friendly and supportive teaching style, giving them a chance to develop their problem solving skills through cooperation and practice.
