This class will target at the students who have strong interest in math, who master the 4 operations and help students excel well in their regular school math class. After this class, students will improve their logical thinking skills and their abilities of mathematical reading comprehension, visual perception and modeling. This class will help students prepare for math competition such as Math Kangaroo etc.
We will cover the following topics:

• Calculation: Efficient multiplication & division problem calculations; the distributive property of multiplication; arithmetic—the 4 operations; the sum of arithmetic sequences.
• Combinatorics: Pigeonhole principle, strategy games for odd & even numbers.
• Counting: The split strategy; enumeration; dendrogram.
• Geometry: Calculations of lengths and angles; compose shapes.
• Number theory: Division with no remainder (advanced) .
• Puzzles: Multiplication & division puzzles with vertically stacked numbers.
• Word problem: Sum, difference, & multiple (advanced); profit & loss problems; ancient Chinese puzzle--- chicken & rabbit (basic); ancient Chinese puzzle--- chicken & rabbit (advanced)

Beast Academy Level 4A includes chapters on shapes, multiplication, and exponents. The Guide book is written in an engaging comic book style, and the Practice book provides over 400 problems ranging from introductory level exercises to very challenging puzzles and word problems. The Beast Academy course provides a fun and challenging math course for students looking to expand their math skills. By using a comic book style, this class draws students in, making learning fun and exciting. But this class is still very academic as it will focus on classifying shapes/geometry, advanced multiplication, exponents, division, logic, factors, and more.

For fall 2025 we will cover chapter 4-7. Topics including division, logic, factor, fraction and integers.

This class will target at the students who have strong interest in math, who master the operations involving fractions, percentages, and decimals; some knowledge of geometry and number theory and help students excel well in their regular school math class. After this class, students will improve their logical thinking skills and their abilities of mathematical reading comprehension, visual perception and modeling. This class will help students prepare for math competition such as Math Kangaroo, AMC 8 etc.
We will cover the following topics:
• Calculation: Whole number splitting; fractions & repeating decimals; fraction splitting; equation system solving
• Combinatorics: Logical reasoning
• Counting: Inclusion-Exclusion Principle; counting in geometry, number puzzles, and number theory
• Geometry: Area problem solving; area of a circle and a sector (basic); solid geometry
• Number theory: Rounding; carrying; remainder
• Puzzles: Place value
• Word problem: Word problems involving equations; problems involving boats & streams; distance problems (advanced)---ratios; mixture word problems; indefinite equation; the concepts of direct & inverse proportion, with application

For fall 2025, we will cover chapter 1-4. Topics including 3D solid, integers, expression and equations, statistics.

Dr. Dong obtained her PhD in mathematics from Binghamton University. She has been teaching mathematics and statistics for over ten years. She enjoys teaching math because students can discover and understand how math is around us from engineering to nature. When she teaches math, she provides the students with a variety of knowledge, help them achieve their goals and make sure every student reach their full potential. Customer satisfaction is our top priority. If you are not satisfied, we offer 100% refund after the 1st trial class. If the withdrawal happens after the 2nd class, refund will be prorated. If the withdrawal happens after the 3rd class or future classes, no cash refund will be made. Instead, you can use the remaining class tuition (prorated) to sign up for other classes or save it as credit for future classes. No refunds for missed classes. We reserve the right to cancel classes due to low enrollment.
