Earth’s Best Tech Camp

  • The Gold Standard of Tech Camps in a 3:1 Camper-to-Counselor Ratio
  • Have Fun, Learn Something™
  • Celebrating our 20th Anniversary in Westchester, NY on the campus of SUNY, Purchase College!

At SummerTech, we offer so much more than your typical tech camp.  Campers always have something exciting to do at SummerTech. They can play games or relax during free time in the afternoon and evening. Staff members host special events every night to make each day a new adventure for our campers. These get-togethers have something for everyone, such as gaming tournaments and tie-dying.

Discover the difference with:

  • An environment of radical acceptance and geek culture where kids form meaningful relationships, grow socially and have a summer to remember
  • Day camp only for summer 2021
  • Flexible drop-off and pickup times to fit your family’s schedule
  • Year-round coding, web design, animation classes extend our summer camp experience
  • Camp locations in Pleasantville, NY and Purchase, NY

One of the things that makes SummerTech so special is how we teach. We offer real code in small class sizes at your own pace. At SummerTech you will never repeat material, and you will never run out of material to learn.

Peer Teachers

At the heart of everything that we do are our instructors. Our teachers are home-grown from within, compassionate, and extremely smart. Each new generation of teachers raises the bar, as they bring their own passion, knowledge, and creativeness to their teaching in order to give someone else the same SummerTech experience they had themselves.

Small Ratios

Our classes are taught in small ratios, no more 3 students for any one teacher. This allows our teachers to give each student an enormous amount of attention, think 3:1 tutoring but with a social camp feel. This individualized attention gives you the freedom to learn at your pace, with lessons personalized to your interests.

Classes in Code and New Media

At SummerTech we have courses for everyone. Whether you’re a techie who wants to dive into code or an artist who wants to learn 2D animation, we can help you explore your passions and reach your goals.

At its core, SummerTech is a vibrant community of Geek Culture. A place to be yourself and be appreciated for who you are. Freedom of self-expression is paramount here and we want to know you, what you love, and to welcome you to new communities and interests. We want to know you, what kind of cool stuff you’re into, and to share it with all of us. Whether it’s coding, animating, gaming, music, art, anime, building stuff – you’ll find it here!

Gaming

Throughout our day there will be breaks for gaming on our insanely-great gaming computers. But the evenings are where our gaming community comes alive with events, tournaments, free-gaming, consoles, PC, VR, and more. Each night we invite you to stay as late as 9pm where you’ll play your favorite games and discover new ones. So many choices all the time!

Events

We think the #1 thing that makes SummerTech so special, is all of our counselors/teachers were once campers. They know exactly what it feels like to be a SummerTech camper and they want to raise the bar each summer to give you the best possible experience. Our staff are constantly creating and presenting new events around gaming, art, music, and more. Each day you’ll have lots of choices at every turn. You will have experiences you never expected.

The Nicest Folks You’ll Ever Meet

Nothing is more important to us than your happiness at SummerTech. Learning can only happen when you’re feeling good about yourself and knowing that you are welcome and accepted. Yes, our staff are some of the smartest people you’ll ever meet, but more importantly, they are also some of the nicest.

Activities Teachers

Python

Python classes is a great fit for beginners to learn how to code. More developers use Python today than ever before, and many experts predict that growth will continue. We suggest incoming coders start with Python.

Java

As one of the most popular programming languages, Java powers software around the world. Learning how to program with Java enables you to build a wide range of web systems and apps.

Web

Our web course teaches creators the foundations of web design and layout. Web design involves creating and shaping the parts of a website that the visitor can see, as well as everything behind the scenes!

3D Modeling

In our 3D modeling courses, students learn the fundamentals of creating digital 3D models. With 3D modeling, students can follow their artistic inspiration while learning how to use industry standard software.

Animation

Let your imagination run wild in our animation course! Students will learn the basics of 2D animation, and work on projects.

Gaming

Play your favorite games with your friends! Minecraft, Fortnite, Smash, we play it all.

Electives

In addition to a main class, campers choose an elective. Electives are developed and run by individual counselors and change on a week to week basis. There’s always something new to try! Here are just a few of the electives we have run in past years. Electives are announced at the beginning of each week when you will be prompted to make your choice.

Outdoor Activities

Every day at SummerTech we spend a few hours in the sunshine, getting away from all screens to take in some fresh air. Here’s some of the things we do when we’re outside:

  • Athletics - At SummerTech we love games, and not just ones on the computer. When we’re outside you’ll find campers playing dodgeball, foursquare, soccer, ultimate frisbee, spike ball, tag, jackpot, and capture the flag.
  • Board Games - What’s your favorite board game? Chances are we have it in our large library. We have every card, board, and dice game you can think of, and if we don’t, we’re always looking to add more. Learn a game with your friends or teach them a new one—there’s always something different to try.

  • Art - Have a creative bent? Spend your outdoor time at the art table and hang out with your friends while you draw, create perler art, or fold papercrafts. It’s a great way to unwind and release your creative energy.

A Typical Day

We’ve developed our daily camp schedule over the years to be fun for campers and flexible for parents. Every day is a fun packed day your child won’t want to end.

You can drop-off your child as early as 8 am and pick up as late as 9 pm, and pick up anytime in between—or get the full SummerTech experience and stay overnight from Sunday to Friday.

Sunday

2:30 pm:  Commuting Campers Check-In – Day campers arrive and have some time to game, relax, and meet the other campers.

3 pm:  Opening Ceremonies – Meet the staff at our opening ceremony! After some introductions, campers will break off into groups to get to know each other, and parents will have an opportunity to get more information about our experience and ask questions.

3:30 pm:  Camp Begins – We’ll start our first class of the week where your instructors will get a sense of your skill level. Love the class you’re in on the first day? Great! Want to switch? No problem!

6 pm:  Dinner Social – Dinner on Sunday is always our pizza social. Meet new friends and get to know the staff while you have a delicious meal.

9 pm:  Last Commuter Pickup – Day campers head home – see you in the morning!

Monday - Thursday

8 am:  Lab Opens/Early Drop Off – Kids run in! – Time to hang with friends, code, animate, design, model, play games, succeed in a wacky counselor challenge (our famous SummerTech Quests!), have fun inside or out.

9–11:30 am:  1st and 2nd Classes – Kids pursue their chosen courses with direct support from our staff (who were all campers).

12:00 pm:  Lunch – At the college cafeteria.

12:30 pm:  3rd Class – Kids pursue their chosen courses with direct support from their favorite counselors.

2 pm:  Electives – Anything and everything. These are counselor envisioned and counselor-camper executed creative, sporty and sometimes wacky activities where everyone has fun. Counselors create new ones each week, so we enjoy whatever young minds come up with. Old favorites are offered as well. Examples include everything from ‘Introduction to Code’ to ‘Improvisational Comedy.’

3-5 pm:  Outdoor Recreation – Social and physically active time.

5:15 pm:  Dinner – At the college cafeteria.

6 pm:  Evening Social Activities/Gaming – This is when things really get creative and exciting. It’s one of our campers favorite times of the day. As day campers say – “Mom and Dad, don’t pick me up early!”

9 pm:  Campers Are Picked Up (Of course you can get your child anytime.)

Friday

8 pm:  Lab Opens/Early Drop Off – Kids run in! – Time to hang with friends, code, animate, design, model, play games, succeed in a wacky counselor challenge (our famous SummerTech Quests!), have fun inside or out.

11:30 am:  Lunch – At the college cafeteria

12:30 pm:  Wrap Up – Campers save up their work and get ready to finish the week. Animation, Film, and 3D modeling students showcase their work to the camp!

2:00 pm:  Closing Ceremony – That’s a wrap! Every camper gets recognized at our closing awards ceremony, and then we close our doors for the weekend.
