Kirk Habana was born and raised locally in Westchester, NY. For his studies he left NY and recently graduated with an Artist Diploma from the Schwob School of Music in GA. As a Graduate Instructor at Schwob, Kirk lectured and taught lessons. He also performed in the top ensembles: Wind Ensemble, Jazz Orchestra, and Philharmonic.
Kirk also graduated with his Masters degree in Saxophone Performance from Schwob. Before that, Kirk attended Bob Jones University in SC where he studied Piano Pedagogy.This training in both instruments provides Kirk a unique teaching style... it combines the piano's pedagogical history with the saxophone's stylistic versatility. He owes this to his teachers: Joseph Girard, Wendy Warner, and Tatianna Muzanova.
As an educator, Kirk has presented along the East Coast. These include masterclasses, clinics, lessons, sectionals, and coachings at schools, colleges, and universities. He also currently serves as adjunct professor of saxophone at LaGrange College.
Kirk's studios have won awards and have succeeded at auditions, even at the college level. He has had private studios in NY and SC, and has worked at several studios in GA.
Kirk has now returned to NY and maintains a private studio in the area, but also teaches virtually to students out of state. In his free time he likes to learn new things, currently it's marketing.
