Voice Group Class for the Young Singer

In Voice Class for the Young Singer, we will meet as a group online where I will work with the students as a group and with each student individually to explore and learn how to use their voice confidently. We will cover breathing technique, posture, range/repertoire for each voice, performance/stage presence, as well as some basic music fundamentals like rhythm, dynamics, and music theory.

I will work with each student to find songs that both work well with their voice and that they enjoy singing. At the end of the session, we will have a collective online recital where each student can perform a song they have worked on in our class. Each student will need to have an additional device to play a soundtrack on that they can sing with. I will play the piano for them sometimes, but for performance purposes, the sound is basically one way, so the accompaniment needs to be in the same room with the singer.

Denise K is a voice/piano instructor and singer-songwriter who currently lives in Austin, TX. Denise completed a B.A. in Liberal Arts with a concentration in music/voice at Austin College in Sherman, TX. She also earned a Master of Music Education degree with a concentration in vocal pedagogy at University of North Texas in Denton, TX. Denise has been teaching piano & voice lessons for 20+ years to students of all ages, from 5 year olds to adults, and in the college/university environment as well. From 2007-2018, she served as the Accompanist/Song Leader at United Christian Church in Austin for one of their services. Denise has been teaching piano & voice to elementary, middle school, & high school aged students at Redeemer School of Performing Arts in Austin since 2002.

Denise has also recorded one CD, an LP, “Heart of the Beast”and has recorded vocals on two children’s educational albums as well with Twin Sisters Productions.

Refund for Lesson Packages

You may cancel a lesson package with at least 24 hours' written notice before the next lesson. Completed lessons will be billed at the standard hourly rate, and the remaining balance will be refunded minus a 5% processing fee. The fee is waived if you keep the balance as credit on your TimeAfterSchool account for other lessons.

Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy

• Standard Policy: Provide at least 24 hours' notice before the scheduled start time to cancel or reschedule a lesson free of charge. Cancellations or reschedules with less than 24 hours’ notice will incur the full lesson fee.
• Grace Period for Packages: For each packages of 10 or more lessons, you are allowed one late cancellation or rescheduling (with less than 24 hours' notice) without penalty to accommodate unexpected situations. Any additional late cancellations or changes beyond this one-time exception will be charged in full.

Adult Supervision

All tutoring sessions for students under 18 years old must be supervised by a responsible adult.
