KEC will hold AP exam Intensive classes for AP students, once a week, a total of 10 classes, to help students get 5 or 4 points in the official exam.
AP subjects include: Calculus, Statistics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, American History, World History, Computer Science A, Psychology, English Language, English Literature,
This course is designed for the students who take AP Chemistry Course and/or plan to take May official AP test. Its goal is to help students get an A in school grade and be better prepared for a score of 5 in the May test. In this course, the teacher will review and summarize what students have learned in school and lead students to work on those typical, confusing and challenging questions. There will be homework after each class. If time permits, previews on new topics will be given.
This bootcamp course is designed to prepare students with a solid programming foundation for their AP CS A study and exam. The lectures will elaborate object-oriented concepts, standard logic algorithms, and hands-on programming projects. We also explore data encapsulation, class and method constructs, standard programming algorithms, programming methodology, and syntax structures. This course will follow the guideline of the new College Board's Course and Exam Description (CED).
Advanced Placement English and Composition is a rigorous college-level class focusing on the study of rhetoric. For many individuals, rhetoric is something to be distrusted--a tool of manipulation, subtle coercion, and calculated dishonesty. And yet, rhetoric shapes the world around us, and our perception of it. In this course we will examine how rhetorical messages affect us as thinkers and as citizens, and come to understand how practically everything around us presents us with arguments. In this course, we will focus on the aspects of writing that we often overlook and take for granted. We will discuss the craft and the elements of writing that contribute to the arguments and ideologies of a text. Students will apply this knowledge in their writing and speaking in order to become strong writers and speakers who have the necessary skills to write effectively in their college courses and in their personal and professional lives.
Much emphasis will be placed on close reading, reading “between the lines” in which students will be asked to extract the connotative meaning of words and the cultural, political, or historical contexts of various texts. Additionally, the class will gear its efforts to produce successful scores on the 2024 Advanced Placement Exam in Language and Composition, and is thus constructed in accordance with the guidelines described in the College Board’s AP Course Description.
In this course, the teacher will go over the concepts, theorem, formula, etc. that are important or are easy to get confused/make a mistake, work on typical/challenging exercise questions, help student to get familiar with AP official test question types, train students to master the methods to solve those different types of questions. It will not only help students on their AP official test, but also help them to improve their school scores and homework.
The teacher will go over all the important concepts with students for a successful AP exam.
Here are the topics covered in this course:
In preparation for the AP US History exam, the class will be working to review content, practice testing-taking strategies and honing necessary analytical skills. The instructor will provide support with organization skills, outlining, planning and, most importantly, boosting confidence. The AP exam covers the 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th centuries of US History, and during our time together the class will review key terms, events, and ideas. Additionally, the class will utilize these key terms as we put them in the context of various time periods and themes. On top of the content review, the class will practice necessary test-taking skills for Multiple Choice, Short Answer Questions, and both the DBQ Essay and Long Essay.
This course will cover all 9 units that will be tested in the official exam.
This course will help the students who take AP Calculus BC and/or plan to participate in the May official AP exam. It will emphasize a multi-representational approach to calculus with concepts, results, and problems solving skills, and focus on the challenging topics and questions. Through the use of the unifying themes of derivatives, integrals, limits, approximation, modeling, and applications, this course will prepare students thoroughly for their school’s tests and the May official test. There will be assignments for each class.
AP Physics 1 is an introductory algebra-based physics course designed to mirror a university-level first semester physics course. Many students find it quite challenging. This course is designed for a thorough, in-depth study for students who aim to get high scores for their tests. It will cover all the topics that will be tested in the May official exam, such as kinematics, Newton’s laws, gravity, rotational motion, momentum, energy, work, harmonic oscillation, and torque. It is structured around the AP Physics 1 curriculum framework provided by the College Board. Students will be encouraged to ask questions and practice as much as they can because people learn science by doing science. We will work on typical questions during our classes. There will always be assignments for each class.
AP Biology is an intensive course designed to be the equivalent of an introductory biology course taken in college. This course will prepare the high school students to take the AP exam given in May. The students should understand and appreciate the science of biology as a process and a personal experience in scientific inquiry that develops their problem solving and critical thinking skills. In order to pass the exam (usually this is with a score of 3 or higher), students must be highly motivated and driven to excel in this challenging course. The format for this class will be primarily lecture, exercises, and practice tests.
All teachers are American high school AP teachers or university professors. Many of them are College Board official readers and have many years of experience in AP exam preparation.
