Voice Group Class for the Young Singer
In Voice Class for the Young Singer, we will meet as a group online where I will work with the students as a group and with each student individually to explore and learn how to use their voice confidently. We will cover breathing technique, posture, range/repertoire for each voice, performance/stage presence, as well as some basic music fundamentals like rhythm, dynamics, and music theory.
I will work with each student to find songs that both work well with their voice and that they enjoy singing. At the end of the session, we will have a collective online recital where each student can perform a song they have worked on in our class. Each student will need to have an additional device to play a soundtrack on that they can sing with. I will play the piano for them sometimes, but for performance purposes, the sound is basically one way, so the accompaniment needs to be in the same room with the singer.
I look forward to working with your young and budding vocalist!
My name is Alexandra. I have taught voice and piano with Merry Melody Music Academy for 11 years and have been teaching remotely using Zoom, FaceTime, Skype for the last 2+ years.
I am a very experienced teacher, with students of all ages, all levels and abilities. Many of my students are taking piano and voice Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) exams. I am also familiar with the ABRSM syllabus. I currently tutor 2 students who are taking AP theory in high school. I have also been an ear training teaching assistant at Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
I have a Master in Voice performance and a post graduate diploma in Music Education from Boston Conservatory at Berklee, an undergraduate degree in Voice, minoring in piano, from the University of Melbourne, Australia, and a Diploma in piano (ABRSM)
I strive to bring out the best in students through patience and gentle guidance, focusing on musicality and technique. I meet where the students are and help them achieve their goals while improving their skills in a systematic and progressive way. I am a firm believer in not only teaching students fundamental musical skills but also how to practice! Practicing effectively and efficiently is just as important as learning how to read notes and rhythms. I always provide students with practice strategies and excercises so as to be efficient with their time and to get proper technique into muscle memory. And most importantly to have fun and enjoyment from learning their instrument, while creating an environment where they can feel a sense of achievement. This will be a life long skill they can enjoy for years to come.
