My name is Alexandra.
My personal journey in music theory began in my early years, where I started with ABRSM music theory examinations. In Singapore, I further delved into theory studies during my GCSE 'O' level music education, which had a significant focus on theoretical concepts. Throughout my undergraduate studies at the University of Melbourne in Australia, I continued to deepen my knowledge in areas such as extensive voice leading and counterpoint, music composition, and music history.
I am a very experienced teacher, with students of all ages, all levels and abilities. Many of my students are taking piano and voice Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) exams. I am also familiar with the ABRSM syllabus. I have tutored students who are taking AP theory in high school. I have also been an ear training teaching assistant at Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
Combining my teaching experience, formal education, and personal studies, I bring a comprehensive and well-rounded approach to teaching music theory to my students. I strive to instill a strong understanding of theoretical concepts, fostering a deeper appreciation and comprehension of music as a whole.
I have a Master in Voice performance and a post graduate diploma in Music Education from Boston Conservatory at Berklee, an undergraduate degree in Voice, minoring in piano, from the University of Melbourne, Australia, and a Diploma in piano (ABRSM)
I strive to bring out the best in students through patience and gentle guidance, focusing on musicality and technique. I meet where the students are and help them achieve their goals while improving their skills in a systematic and progressive way.
