Students who have difficulty in reading comprehension find it challenging to identify literary elements, find underlying meanings, and maneuver around context clues while students who have difficulty with their writing find it challenging to transfer their verbal ideas onto paper, structure their essays, and incorporate textual evidence with ease. Challenges in reading comprehension and writing sometimes often go hand-in-hand as well: those who struggle to comprehend a given text also struggle to write about it.

I am here to help your student improve in both of these areas, as someone who is a reading comprehension tutor, a middle school writing tutor, and a writing tutor for high school students! With my help, your student will attain better grades, maneuver around literary discussions more comfortably, learn how to engage with a given text, write more compelling essays, and become self-sufficient, all with confidence! I offer reading comprehension and writing tutoring online for students in fifth grade and up. I'm also happy to help students who are simply looking for someone to proofread their work.

I'm Rachel, a lover of words and an avid reader. My goal as a tutor is to boost my students' confidence in order to see them thrive in areas where they currently struggle. My lessons are structured and informative, but because of my vivacious personality, they are also engaging and fun!

My background/experience includes:

Refund for Lesson Packages

You may cancel a lesson package with at least 24 hours' written notice before the next lesson. Completed lessons will be billed at the standard hourly rate, and the remaining balance will be refunded minus a 5% processing fee. The fee is waived if you keep the balance as credit on your TimeAfterSchool account for other lessons.

Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy

• Standard Policy: Provide at least 24 hours' notice before the scheduled start time to cancel or reschedule a lesson free of charge. Cancellations or reschedules with less than 24 hours’ notice will incur the full lesson fee.
• Grace Period for Packages: For each packages of 10 or more lessons, you are allowed one late cancellation or rescheduling (with less than 24 hours' notice) without penalty to accommodate unexpected situations. Any additional late cancellations or changes beyond this one-time exception will be charged in full.

Adult Supervision

All tutoring sessions for students under 18 years old must be supervised by a responsible adult.
