Highlight
ISD is a nationally recognized speech and debate summer camp program for middle and high school students. Designed, managed, and staffed by championship speech and debate coaches, we offer the highest quality speech and debate program in the nation. While we work hard to win, we also have fun. Our students love participating in our popular activities that foster friendships that last long after camp ends. Above all, we are a community dedicated to each other and to our shared passion for speech and debate. At ISD, your students will grow their public speaking, research, argumentation, performance, and communication skills!
Room
At ISD: Carolina, students will reside in the Carmichael dorm at UNC Chapel Hill. Students will have 1 or 2 roommates depending on the layout of their specific room. Dorms have shared floor bathrooms. We offer linens packages for students who would like to have linens waiting for them at camp.
Food
For residents, breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included in tuition. For commuters, only lunch and dinner are included. Meals are served in the UNC Chase Dining Hall.
Health
We are the only speech and debate camp in the country with a 24/7 nurse in our dorms. Our camp nurse has decades of experience as a PICU nurse and now as a school nurse. She runs our health center on the same floor as our residents.
Fun Day
At ISD: Carolina all two-week residents will have a fun day between the two weeks. We offer students choice on this day and encourage them to recharge and build community!
