✍️ Foundations in Writing and Critical Reading
Grades 6–8 | Wednesdays, 7:00–8:30 PM
This foundational course is designed to build students’ confidence and skills in both academic reading and writing. Through weekly writing instruction and practice, students will strengthen their ability to organize ideas, write clearly, and express themselves effectively.
Students will read and analyze a wide range of short literary texts—including poetry, short fiction, and nonfiction—to improve reading comprehension and develop critical thinking. Guided class discussions will help students explore how writers use language and structure to convey meaning.
The course also includes targeted instruction in grammar, vocabulary, and writing mechanics. Students will complete weekly reading and writing assignments and receive individualized feedback to support their growth.
This class is ideal for students in Grades 6–8 who want to build a strong foundation in English Language Arts.
