✍️ Advanced Reading & Writing
Grades 7–9 | Mondays, 7:00–8:30 PM
This intermediate-level course is designed for students who already demonstrate proficiency in English Language Arts and are ready to take their reading and writing to the next level. It is ideal for students who have completed Welight’s previous Intermediate Reading & Writing course—or for strong newcomers looking for challenge and growth.
Through a carefully curated selection of short stories, poems, and nonfiction texts, students will strengthen their reading comprehension and sharpen their analytical thinking. Writing instruction will focus on essay organization, argumentative writing, grammar, mechanics, and vocabulary development.
Each student will receive personalized feedback to help them grow as confident, capable writers. The course also introduces strategies relevant to future standardized tests such as the SSAT.
Recommended for students in Grades 7–9 who want to build strong academic writing skills and prepare for high-level English coursework.
