Ms. Deirdre

Ms. Deirdre is a certified teacher of English for grades 7–12, with a BA in English from UC Berkeley and an MA from California State University, San Francisco.

She has learned that giving students recognition for what they do well is one of the most important gateways to success. She has a gift for finding the best in students, and this offers them valuable paths to assuring a good outcome. She also guide students to discovering how to write well by reading works of those who do write well.  

Her former students often return to her for support with college term papers and applications to law schools, MBA programs, and medical schools.

She works with students of all capabilities and also with students who have so-called “learning disabilities,” which she prefers to view as “different learning styles.”

She is also a professional writer, having written four screenplays, a novel, a memoir, and several short stories.

Refund for Lesson Packages

You may cancel a lesson package with at least 24 hours' written notice before the next lesson. Completed lessons will be billed at the standard hourly rate, and the remaining balance will be refunded minus a 5% processing fee. The fee is waived if you keep the balance as credit on your TimeAfterSchool account for other lessons.

Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy

Standard Policy: Provide at least 24 hours' notice before the scheduled start time to cancel or reschedule a lesson free of charge. Cancellations or reschedules with less than 24 hours’ notice will incur the full lesson fee.

Adult Supervision

All tutoring sessions for students under 18 years old must be supervised by a responsible adult.
