Much of what I do as a teacher is patiently listen and observe. By doing this, I am able to focus on students’ strengths, build on those, and help them overcome any obstacles. I am offering tutoring in writing, literary analysis, test taking strategies, reading comprehension strategies, rhetoric, research projects; and any skills related to high school, middle school, and elementary school English subjects. I have been teaching English Language Arts courses to students in High School, College, and Elementary School for more than 20 years. As a high school teacher, I’ve taught every level and course, including writing, rhetoric, literary analysis, Journalism, Media Literacy and more. At the college level I was the instructor for English Composition 1 & 2, and Technical Writing. I taught in the classroom for 15 years, then moved to online teaching for the past 11 years. In my roles as both in person and online teaching, I have extensive experience working one-on-one and in small groups to support students in mastering writing, literary analysis, and reading comprehension..  Before becoming a teacher, I worked as a Communications Manager, Journalist, and Freelance Writer. I have a Master’s Degree in Secondary Education with a Concentration in English, and I’m certified to teach Secondary English in Washington State.

Refund for Lesson Packages

You may cancel a lesson package with at least 24 hours' written notice before the next lesson. Completed lessons will be billed at the standard hourly rate, and the remaining balance will be refunded minus a 5% processing fee. The fee is waived if you keep the balance as credit on your TimeAfterSchool account for other lessons.

Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy

Standard Policy: Provide at least 24 hours' notice before the scheduled start time to cancel or reschedule a lesson free of charge. Cancellations or reschedules with less than 24 hours’ notice will incur the full lesson fee.

Grace Period for Packages: For each packages of 10 or more lessons, you are allowed one late cancellation or rescheduling (with less than 24 hours' notice) without penalty to accommodate unexpected situations. Any additional late cancellations or changes beyond this one-time exception will be charged in full.

Adult Supervision

All tutoring sessions for students under 18 years old must be supervised by a responsible adult.
