Mr. Samuel A
I am in my second-year at the University of Florida studying statistics with a 3.95 GPA. Previously, I had graduated from Westfield High School with a 4.2 GPA. During high school, I obtained a 1580 on my SAT, and achieved 5s on AP Bio, AP Calculus AB, AP US History, AP European History, AP Gov, and AP Language Arts. In addition to school, I have previously tutored students of all age ranges, including students from elementary school to college. Through my work, I have helped my students achieve a letter grade increase in Algebra 2, a 4 on AP US History, a 200 point increase on the SAT, and a letter grade increase in Linear Regression. It is my flexibility in teaching style that has allowed for these gains to be made, for I do not fit a general model for students, but rather, try to understand the way they learn best. For example, when I was tutoring the student who saw a 200 point increase on the SAT, I utilized graphs and simplified the problems, so that she could easily understand them. Similarly, for the student that had a 4 on AP US History, I broke down the DBQ process and compared it to relevant aspects she could understand. I care about my students and invest a great deal of time and energy to understand them, so that they could be successful.
