About Meg

The best education is about far more than earning good grades. It is about learning how to think, communicate, and discover who you are becoming.

For nearly 20 years, I have worked with students from elementary school through graduate school and beyond, helping them develop not only academic excellence, but also the confidence, curiosity, and independent thinking that lead to long-term success.

I hold a Master's degree in Language Acquisition and Teaching from Brigham Young University, and my background spans education, curriculum design, language acquisition research, school leadership, and college admissions advising. I've served as the principal of an international college prep school in Japan, developed educational programs and curriculum, and helped students earn admission to highly selective universities, including Stanford, MIT, Johns Hopkins, Cornell, Duke, NYU, and many others.

My Areas of Expertise

I specialize in helping students master subjects that require clear thinking and strong communication. Rather than simply helping students complete assignments, I teach them how to analyze complex ideas, organize their thinking, and express themselves with clarity and confidence.

My Teaching Philosophy

Every student has unique strengths, interests, and ways of learning. My first priority is understanding the student sitting in front of me—not simply the curriculum.

Some students need structure and accountability. Others need confidence. Some need to learn how to study effectively for the first time, while others need help transforming exceptional ability into exceptional performance.

My role is to identify the obstacles standing between students and their goals, and then provide the guidance, tools, and encouragement they need to move forward independently.

I also work closely with families as necessary, helping students build ambitious academic pathways while ensuring those goals remain connected to the student's own interests, values, and long-term aspirations. I believe the strongest college applications are not manufactured—they grow naturally from a student who has been given the opportunity to discover and develop their genuine strengths.

Above all, I want my students to leave our work together with more than just stronger grades. I want them to understand themselves more deeply, think more clearly, and feel confident tackling challenges long after our lessons have ended.
