Company
At Lazy F, we offer multiple overnight camps throughout the summer. We serve campers who are just entering kindergarten to those who have just graduated high school. Our program includes a variety of specialty camps. At Grand Camp, our youngest campers can begin to experience camp with the help of a grandparent. This year also sees the return of our Night Owl program - a camp for your nocturnal older camper. Visit our website for a full listing.
Our site offers a range of activities: We offer floating down innertubes in the Manastash Creek, fishing in our stocked trout pond, two rec fields, an activity barn, a craft cabin, a climbing wall, several miles of hiking trails, a low ropes challenge course, a high ropes challenge course, a vertical playpen, a zipline, an agate bed, a campfire, archery, and a playground. On top of that, if you visit Lazy F for winter programming, we have all the gear (and weather) for snowshoeing, snow tubing, and ice skating.
Mission & Philosophy
Lazy F is a ministry of the United Methodist Church. We believe that our faith informs everything we do. In alignment with the Christian tradition of hospitality, we welcome all - no matter who you are, where you're from, or what you believe. We do this because we experience Christ in the relationships we form with all of our guests and campers. Accordingly, we share our faith with our campers in songs, prayers, experiences, teachings, and fun. We invite our campers to engage with these things at their own pace and in their own way.
Our written mission, in conjunction with other UMC camps in our area is as follows: "As the United Methodist Camp and Retreat Ministries of the Pacific Northwest Annual Conference, our mission is to be sanctuaries of Christian hospitality, renewal and learning within God's natural world. Sanctuaries that celebrate diversity, inspire love and service, and fulfill our special partnership with local churches in nurturing disciples and spiritual leaders."

Facility and Location
Lazy F is nestled in Manastash Canyon in the Eastern Cascade Mountain Range foothills in Washington State on 110 acres of mixed evergreen and hardwood forest. We have 3 lodges, 2 teepees, and 3 log cabins that house our summer programming as well as additional lodge and two individual retreat cabins used for guest groups. Our newly constructed Manastash Lodge serves as our dining facility and offers grand views of the north face of the canyon.
History
In 1937, Laissez Faire dude ranch was founded. Laissez Faire for the ranchers was a way of living that was relaxed and laid back. When it became time to design a cattle brand, they picked one with an "F" taking a nap under a roof. The naming tradition for cattle brands would call a sleeping or tilted letter "lazy" so Laissez Faire dude ranch was the one with the "lazy f" brand.
When the United Methodist Church bought the site in 1954, they took the name that direction and Lazy F Camp and Retreat Center was born. Several of our buildings are original, so spending time at Lazy F lends itself to thoughts and feelings of what living in the old west was like.
