Mathnasium instructors use our unique assessment process to determine (with great accuracy) exactly what each child knows and what they need to learn. Meet Our Director - Bryan Cooke, Owner
Bryan holds a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering and an MS degree in Engineering Management, both from Drexel University. He has also taken various continuing education classes, including Vibration Analysis, Root Cause Analysis, and Reliability Methods. Bryan spent 20 years as a plant engineer and has also spent 10 years as a reliability consultant and corporate trainer. He realized a love for teaching when he was a corporate trainer and as a Scout leader. Bryan has wanted to get into the teaching field for several years. He looked into public schools and colleges, but there were many roadblocks. Then he heard about Mathnasium and checked it out. Bryan agrees with the integrity and ideals Mathnasium promotes and the teaching methodology is powerful and understandable. The teaching method is similar to how he learned Math from his mother and grandfather. "We 'mathed' as well as 'read' while I was growing up." Bryan sees Mathnasium as a way that he can pass on his love for math and give back to the community. Bryan has lived in the Cherry Hill area for almost 30 years with his wife and 3 children. He has been involved with Boy Scouts as an assistant Scout Master and enjoys camping, tennis, golf and swimming.
Our Staff
Becca Gorelick, Center Director
Becca began working at Mathnasium in October 2017. Becca graduated from Cherry Hill High School West and now attends Camden County College pursuing a degree in Accounting. She has a life-long passion for anything math related and always looks forward to discussing both the practical and theoretical parts of math in ways that anyone can understand. Becca has three cats, a dog, and a bird that she absolutely adores. She is a self-proclaimed Mario Kart champion and loves to draw. While Becca is great at teaching every level of math, her favorite math to teach is Algebra. Becca loves working at Mathnasium because she enjoys helping students love math just as much as she does.
David Kushner, Instructor
David is originally from Allentown, PA. He has a Bachelor's Degree from Vanderbilt in math and U.S. history. David then earned a Master's at Peabody College in Secondary Education and his MBA from Lehigh University as a Reading Specialist. David taught high school math in New Jersey and Connecticut, and junior high in Georgia. David previously owned other learning centers. David joined the Mathnasium team in 2010. He enjoys Mathnasium because it is math ONLY. In his free time he enjoys playing and teaching chess.
Maureen Reis, Instructor
Maureen received her BA in Accounting, but has been working in Elementary Education for the past 25 years. She previously worked at Holy Innocents School in Philadelphia where she taught 7th Grade. Maureen lives with her husband, Bill, and has five stepchildren, and ten grandchildren! Maureen loves coming to work at Mathnasium because the people are friendly and loves the way Mathnasium approaches math!
Amara Benson, Instructor
Amara began working at Mathnasium in 2016. She is currently attending Rowan College at Gloucester County for Criminal Justice. Amara does it all! In addition to working at Mathnasium, she is also a nanny, dog sitter, and police officer! Amara has two dogs and is happy to show you pictures of them. In her spare time, she loves watching Disney movies and musicals. Amara enjoys teaching math because she loves to see students be challenged, and their joy of finding the right answer!
Mel Monte, Instructor
Mel began working at Mathnasium in November 2017. Mel graduated from Rowan University with a Bachelor's in Mathematics and a Master's in Teaching. Mel also teaches college level math to high school seniors in the Cinnaminson area. His favorite subjects to teach are Geometry, Algebra, and Pre-Calculus. Outside of work, Mel plays rugby! Mel likes teaching math because "Seeing the students reach that 'Aha!' moment of clarity is one of the best feelings in the world".
Tiernan Dautle, Instructor
Tiernan began working at Mathnasium in December 2018. Before becoming an instructor, she attended Mathnasium as a student for 5 years. She loved it so much, she had to come back. In her free time, Tiernan reads and plays with her orange tabby, Rustle.

Larry Martinek, creator of the Mathnasium Method, has spent 40+ years designing, developing, and refining this approach based on his extensive experience teaching math to kids. We build math knowledge upon what they already know - this helps kids learn quickly and boosts their confidence right away.
Facility and Location
We serve the Cherry Hill, Marlton, and Voorhees communities. Our center is at the corner of Route 70 and Springdale, across the street from the Camden County College, Cherry Hill Campus.
