Lessons are tailored to student's unique learning needs, and repertoire remains flexible so that student is able to learn music which interests him/her. The teacher will ensure the student makes fast and steady progress for all skill levels.
Lazar
Lazar is an accomplished cellist who has performed as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral principal throughout the United States and internationally. Currently pursuing his studies at The Juilliard School in New York City under the guidance of renowned cellist Professor Natasha Brofsky, Lazar has established himself as one of the most promising young cellists of his generation.
Before attending Juilliard, Lazar served as Principal Cellist of the Symphony Pro Musica under Mark Churchill and appeared frequently as Guest Principal Cellist with the Atlantic Symphony Orchestra. He has also held leadership positions with the New England Conservatory (NEC) Youth Symphony and NEC Youth Philharmonic Orchestra, demonstrating exceptional musicianship from an early age.
A prize-winning performer, Lazar has earned top honors in numerous prestigious competitions, including First Prize and the Special Prize at the International New York Solo Competition, First Prize at the Concord Young Artist Competition, Grand Prize at the Fidelity Investments Young Artist Competition, First Prize at the NEC Solo Competition, and multiple victories at the AIMS Festival Concerto Competition.
As a soloist, Lazar has appeared with leading orchestras in performances of some of the cello repertoire's most celebrated works, including Elgar's Cello Concerto, Saint-Saëns' Cello Concerto No. 1, Tchaikovsky's Variations on a Rococo Theme, Tchaikovsky's Pezzo Capriccioso, and Beethoven's Triple Concerto. His performances have taken him to renowned venues including Jordan Hall and to audiences across Italy, Spain, Israel, Mexico, and the United States.
An active chamber musician, Lazar has participated in some of the world's premier music festivals, including the Sitka International Cello Seminar, the Sarasota Music Festival, and the Manchester Music Festival, where he worked with distinguished artists such as Zuill Bailey and Philip Setzer.
In addition to performing, Lazar is a dedicated educator and mentor. He has served on the faculties of Vivace Music School and Onset School of Music, and was Manager of Youth Orchestras at the Brookline Music School, where he helped nurture the next generation of young musicians.
Having begun studying the cello at the age of five in a family of musicians, Lazar has developed a lifelong passion for the instrument's rich, resonant voice. Guided by distinguished teachers including Nancy Hair, Lluís Claret, Julie Albers, and Natasha Brofsky, he continues to build a career marked by artistic excellence, technical mastery, and a deep commitment to sharing music with audiences around the world.

Refund for Lesson Packages
You may cancel a lesson package with at least 24 hours' written notice before the next lesson. Completed lessons will be billed at the standard hourly rate, and the remaining balance will be refunded minus a 5% processing fee. The fee is waived if you keep the balance as credit on your TimeAfterSchool account for other lessons.
