The Leader in Training (or LIT) Program is perfect for rising high school freshmen who are looking to have some fun, while they begin learning about the responsibilities of working with children. Each week, LITs add to their schedules by choosing activities of interest. They also attend trips throughout summer. The LITs are mentored by our counselors and specialists, while taking the first step towards becoming a staff member. LITs will have the opportunity to apply the skills learned when they return the following year for our Counselor in Training Program.
Our Counselor in Training (or CIT) Program is the final year before becoming a staff member. The CITs get a chance to apply the skills learned working at camp, or wherever they decide to go in the future. Each week during the latter part of their day, the CITs spend time with their Division Leader learning about different life skills through meaningful discussion. They spend time teamwork building and problem solving, and they choose a few activities they'd like to participate in.
LITs work alongside our CITs on a project designed to give back to our community. They create a program to raise money for a charity of their choice. Over the years, they have raise thousands of dollars for organizations like the Ronald McDonald House, the Make-A-Wish Foundation and local families in need.
A Typical Day
LITs spend about 75% of their day participating in the camp activities they love through our Elective Program.The remaining 25% of their day is spent with either a specific camp group or specialty area.

Food
Eagle’s Landing provides a hot, nutritious lunch program for all campers. We provide a tasty menu that rotates throughout the summer. A hot entree is available every day and includes healthy, kid-friendly foods.
Our salad bar includes fresh garden salad, fat-free fruit yogurt and fresh fruit. In addition, we have tuna, kosher turkey and Sunbutter and jelly sandwiches on whole wheat bread and whole wheat bagels with cream cheese or dairy-free margarine.
- All campers are offered a healthy mid-morning snack.
- We offer fresh fruit, ice cream or ices every afternoon.
- We are "nut aware" meaning that our food is free of all nut products.
- Our food is free of trans-fats and nothing is fried.
- We can accomodate most allergies or dietary restrictions.
- We celebrate birthdays during lunch with a special treat.
Health
We always have two Registered Nurses on staff during the camp day in our Wellness Center. A pediatrician is on call.

It's very simple at Eagle's Landing: we love kids and helping them grow! We pride ourselves on our ability to make sure every camper leaves feeling good about themselves. Every day is a new adventure, whether it's making a new friend, passing the deep water test or creating an amazing project. Our ultimate goal is for each camper to have a safe, incredibly fun summer where every child can make friends, accept challenges and develop self-confidence. Our leadership team is comprised of over 40 certified teachers who share their passion and expertise with our campers. Our program empowers your children to try new things and learn new skills. Through the elective program, campers starting in grade 3 choose the actvities that interest them the most. Meet Our Director
Barry Wasserman, Ph.D., and Ruth Ann Weiss, Owners/Directors
Barry has been a Camp Director for 30 years. Prior to creating Eagle’s Landing, Barry was the Director of both Eagle River Day Camp in Monroe for 8 years and Lake-Vu Day Camp in East Brunswick for 14 years. Barry served on the Board of Advisors for Camp America, a division of the American Institute for Foreign Study (AIFS). He has also previously served as President, Vice President and Treasurer of the NJ Association of Private Camps, and as a Board Member of the American Camp Association.
Ruth Ann has been a Camp Director for 21 years. Prior to Eagle’s Landing, Ruth Ann was the Director of Eagle River Day Camp in Monroe for 8 years and the Head Counselor of Lake-Vu Day Camp for 4 years. Ruth Ann grew up in camp and spent many years working in non-profit facilities. She has served as an administrator at camps in both New Jersey and Delaware. Ruth Ann received her certification as a Pre-School teacher and as a Kindergarten teacher. She also supervised an after-school program working with children in grades K-8.
